Welcome to AMSA Northern Territory

Marine Science in the tropics just wouldn't be as much fun..............

The Northern Territory (NT) branch of the Australian Marine Science Association, although small in numbers, has a vast wealth of experience in coastal and marine studies. Members are from a variety of host institutions in the NT and cross many disciplines. We also encourage an active student membership.

AMSA NT aims to promote all aspects of marine science in the Northern Territory. Our activities include.

· Public meetings where guest speakers discuss topical issues in marine science in the Top End, such as the creation of Marine Protected Areas. These events will be held at institutions such as Universities, Local and State Government venues.

· Scientific forums to discuss new and novel approaches and findings from marince science in the NT in a relaxed atmosphere.

· Member meetings to promote cross-discipline flow of ideas, information and develop future collaborations and networking ability.

· An annual Student Research Award of up to $500 to a postgraduate (Hons, MSc, PhD) student enrolled at Charles Darwin University or any Australian university doing research in the NT. It is suggested that the award contributes to the cost of presenting their data and results at a national conference.

You are invited to become a member of AMSA and the NT Branch. To do this, you can attend one of our upcoming functions and join, or complete the online membership application (available from the link 'Not Yet a Member' on the left.
